Introduction

Welcome to the Dublin Garden Group website

Ireland is blessed with a mild and temperate climate, making it a plantsman's joy and allowing gardeners to grow a wide variety of plants and shrubs from all over the world, to exist side by side. It is the envy of their colleagues from many countries.

The Dublin Garden Group (DGG) consists of Ireland's most distinguished private gardens in the greater Dublin area - some of them world famous and others secret gems, whose discovery has been the highlight of many a Garden Tour.

Mixed grasses in Carmel Duignan's GardenThe owners of these private gardens, most of which are not open to the public, would like to welcome groups to share their enthusiasm for and knowledge of their plants and designs, at the time to see them at their best.

DGG exists to assist group organisers by suggesting itineraries and, when agreed, booking the individual gardens. Organisers should specify any particular interests for their group, so that the most appropriate gardens can be suggested. The minimum group size is 10 and gardens that are not members of DGG can be included in the itinerary. Booking these gardens is the responsibility of the group organiser. Advice on gardens to visit in the rest of Ireland is also available. There is no charge for these services.

In some cases house tours and/or tea, coffee and home-made biscuits, can be arranged at an additional charge. (See individual pages for details).

The Red Border in The Dillon GardenMany of the gardens will accept individual groups of less than 10 and some are open to the public at specific times. Bookings for these smaller groups should be made with the garden owners concerned. (See individual pages for details).

Rates for each garden can be seen on the individual pages and payments are normally made to the garden owners at the time of the visit.

Organizing a tour through the Dublin Garden Group allows your group a unique opportunity to see gardens not normally available to view and to have the owners provide guided tours of their places of special interest.
